Spain Digital Nomad Visa for Filipinos
From Manila to a Spanish Passport.
The complete 2026 guide for Filipino applicants: NBI + DFA apostille, BLS Makati appointment, €2,849/month income proof, and the 2-year path to Spanish citizenship under Article 22 of the Spanish Civil Code.
Prices shown in USD with PHP equivalents. No remittance markup, no agency fees.
Spanish citizenship in 2 years, not 10.
Under Article 22 of the Spanish Civil Code, citizens of Ibero-American countries and the Philippines can apply for Spanish citizenship after only 2 years of legal residency, instead of the standard 10 years required for most nationalities.
Combined with Republic Act 9225 (Citizenship Retention and Re-acquisition Act), Filipinos can hold Spanish citizenship without renouncing the Philippine passport, true dual nationality.
- 3 years on DNV (initial + renewal) → eligible to apply for citizenship
- Pass DELE A2 Spanish + CCSE culture test → file the citizenship petition
- EU passport in hand → live and work anywhere in the European Union
Source: Real Decreto 1004/2015 (CCSE/DELE A2 requirements) + Art. 22 CC + RA 9225. Processing times vary; we publish current consulate-level timelines for Insiders monthly.
The Filipino DNV roadmap
Every step tailored for Filipino applicants, from NBI Clearance in Manila to the TIE card in Madrid.
Eligibility check
Confirm income (€2,650+/month), remote-only work, clean record, and no Spanish-employer share over 20%.
NBI Clearance + DFA Apostille
Get NBI Clearance (multi-purpose), then DFA-OCA Apostille. Spain accepts the Hague Apostille, so the old red ribbon is no longer needed.
Apostille degree or proof of 3+ years
If you have a college degree, apostille it via CHED → DFA. No degree? Document 3+ years of remote-work experience instead.
Income proof (3+ months)
Payslips/invoices in USD or EUR, bank statements, employer remote-work authorisation letter. We show you the templates.
BLS Spain Visa Application Centre, Makati
Book at BLS Makati (handles consular intake for Spain in PH). Bring originals + apostilles + Spanish translations where required.
After arrival → TIE → Article 22 countdown
Within 30 days of arrival: TIE card. From day one of legal residency, your 2-year clock toward Spanish citizenship starts.
⚠️ The PH ↔ Spain Coverage Certificate gap
The Philippines and Spain do not have a totalisation/social-security agreement. That means most Filipino DNV applicants pay into Spanish social security from day one of activity in Spain (around 31% of net earnings via the autónomo regime; flat-rate discounts apply for the first 12–24 months).
Our Smart Toolkit and Complete Guide walk you through the autónomo registration, the Beckham Law option, and the real take-home math, most generic guides skip this entirely.
