How to choose your DNV base

Madrid and Barcelona dominate global rankings, but Valencia and Malaga consistently top the cost-adjusted nomad scoreboards. Here's the short version:

    • Madrid, best regional tax rate, strongest coworking ecosystem, deepest job market for spouse/partner. Highest cost.
    • Barcelona, global brand, beach + city, but Catalonia adds 0.5% IRPF and rent caps in declared zonas tensionadas.
    • Valencia, best price-to-quality ratio for nomads. Growing English-speaking community. €910 1BR center.
    • Malaga, Andalusian sunshine, fast-growing tech scene, tax base is Andalucía (slightly lower than Catalonia).
    • Tenerife, Canary Islands ZEC zone offers radically lower corporate tax for SL setups (not personal IRPF).

Padron and TIE: register where you actually live

Your TIE address determines which comunidad autónoma you pay tax to. Don't rent in one city and register your padrón in another to game the rate, AEAT and the consulate cross-check. Pick the city you'll actually live in for the full first year.

    Filipino + LATAM communities

Madrid and Barcelona host the largest Filipino communities (estimates: 50k+ each). Valencia and Malaga have smaller but tight-knit groups. See our Filipino DNV roadmap for community contacts and BLS Makati workflow.
